My color cast is fairly mild and is most noticable with a solid grey background. Apple aparently also uses or used the same LG panels in their 24" display but it seemed that they got 'first picks' of the panels since it doesn't appear to be a problem on their displays. The problem also shows up from time to time on the HP 2475(?) which uses the same LG panel. Actually it is a problem with the LG panel that Dell uses in this monitor. This seems to be a somewhat common problem with this monitor. In the center of the screen the cast is neutral. Green is strongest in the bottom left and magenta is strongest in the upper right. I also have a U2410 that exhibits the green/magenta color gradient. I contacted Colorvision and they sent me a new kit. I go into Win 7 color calibration and remove the cast easily. All the colors are true except the screen has an overall red cast. I have the same problem using a Spyder3 Express. I found this info (long read) about the Dell U2410, but it doesn't explain the conclusions from the TFT Central review, unless they only looked at the numbers and didn't notice a terrible red cast. Am I simply out of luck with this screen or is something wrong with my Blue Eye Pro? I wondered if it has been adjusted to work with the Lacie screen that it was bundled with originally, but maybe that's nonsense. It seems that the calibrator is simply interpreting its measurements wrongly.Īfter a bit of reading it seems that colorimeters aren't really up to the task of calibrating wide gamut screens. Very close to the result of TFT Central, but totally unusable in practice because of the red (and partially green) cast. This is the result I got when using the Standard preset: I hoped to be able to get the same result as shown here: (scroll down a bit to see the calibration result with "Standard" preset. The calibrator is installed as an "Xrite i1 Display" (from the driver included in the Lacie Blue Eye Pro software). With lots of searching I found a forum post with link to the installer of v4.5.5 (then applied 4.5.6 update which is downloadable from the Lacie website). The cd that came with the calibrator was v4.0.0 but that didn't include a driver that worked for Windows 7. Used calibration software was Blue Eye Pro 4.5.6 (latest update). Laptop with XP (32b) + U2410 attached on VGA port The result was the same on three different setups with this screen:ģ. The issue I am running into is that after calibration, the Blue Eye Pro software reports excellent color accuracy results, but the screen shows a terrible red cast and my mouse cursor is light green (!) for some reason. The latter was originally bundled with a Lacie screen (but did come in the original box of the Blue Eye Pro). I have a Dell U2410 wide gamut screen and recently bought a Lacie Blue Eye Pro colorimeter to calibrate my screen.
